Of course not, but that's unlikely, given their ages. If they want to draw on themselves/each other in their own time that's one thing (preferably washing it off before school). Though they should totally henna up before going for their first job interview, so that they learn the lesson of "If you get a real tattoo, look forward to being on the social. Nobody will employ you."

When Ess was in the hospital, almost every single nurse had multiple tattoos. So, if nothing else, she could move here and be a nurse.

So long as it's temporary, I don't have problems with my son decorating himself.

Tattoos don't really bother me - I'd probably get one if not for employability and the fact that I'm too flighty and would change my mind a week after I got it.

The one that actually bothers me is certain types of piercing. Tongue ones and studs in the... that area between the lower lip and the chin... I can't stand even seeing those, and those massive tractor tires hipsters put inside their earlobes so their lobes stretch out and touch their shoulders like Liu Bei. It actually makes me feel physically ill to see that.

Those giant ear tire holes don't ever really go back to normal, either.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

My 8-year-old wants a mad scientist party. It's fairly easy to plan but I want to push it up a notch and also prop up some famous female mad/crazy scientists.

The only really crazy female scientist that I know pretty well is Marie Curie. It's easy to push her crazy/silly/sadness onto people based on the whole dying of radiation poisoning from the very element you discovered. ANy others?

In all fairness, Curie had no way of knowing that radiation poisoning was even a thing. That'd be kind of similar to calling you crazy for working your whole life looking for a cure for polio but dying from a previously unknown disease you couldn't have known to protect yourself against in the process.

Fuck you Haruhi is clearly the best moe anime, and we will argue about how Haruhi and Nagato are OP and um... that girl with blond hair? is for shitters.

If you like Lucky Star then I will explain in great detail why Lucky Star is the a shitty shitty anime for shitty shitty people, and how the characters have no interesting abilities at all, and everything is poorly designed especially the skill challenges.

No female scientists, but for all your mad science party needs, I can suggest Ameican Science and Surplus. Back in the days of mail order catalogs, we used to get theirs, lots of random crap, like lab ware (apparently plastic beakers exist)
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

I think it has more to do with the classically mad science-esque existential angst of dying to the very thing you discovered.

Most female scientists I know of weren't mad, they did pretty sensible (yet still brilliant) stuff.

Ada Lovelace wrote the first computer program after translating an Italian's work on a purely theoretical device.

Louise G. Rabinovitch used electricity to revive recently dead animals.
Louise G. Rabinovitch wrote:‘While under the influence of electric sleep I killed her instantly with chloroform. The heart stopped beating and respiration ceased. If the animal had been left alone then it would have remained dead, but I immediately instituted artificial respiration by means of electricity, and presently the animal started to breathe of its own accord. Again, after I had killed the dog and resuscitated it, hemorrhage set in, caused by an operation, and the dog bled to death. I brought it back to life again. The animal is at present perfectly healthy.’

Oh I can just see that party, "I'm sorry honey, we killed snuggles, but look we brought an electrical lead so you can bring him back just like Louise G. Rabinovitch."

I love that name too. Louise G. Rabinovitch is just perfect for a mad scientist. Maybe some of that is that at a glance, my mind reads her name as Louise G. Ravingbitch.

Anyone know much about cars?

I have a '98 crown vic, the ac is just blowing hot air. A friend checked it with his refrigerant gauge, and the guage read 100psi. Given that I'd thought the issue was low refrigerant level, this seems to indicate something else as the issue. Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem might be?

Mary Anning, Fossil Hunter.

Mary Somerville, Astronomer and Physicist.

Marie Curie's daughter also won a nobel prize investigating radioactive elements.

Beatrice Shilling, professional motorcycle racer and aeronautical engineer.

Shilling, Anning, Goodall and the Curie's seem like a good group. Mechanic, Fossil Hunter, Anthropologist and the Radioactive Mother-Daughter Duo.

ok, as a non native engrish speaker, this one just now occurred to me while eating sugar with some strawberries dipped into it:
WHY is it STRAWBERRY for BLONDE and GINGER for READHEAD?

I was going to respond with pictures demonstrating, but the search just led me to the realization that Strawberry Blonde hair is really just a very light red, and then of course, ginger isn't anywhere close to true red hair (which is actually more like a carrot).

So all I can say is "because english is weird."

It's not Strawberry = Blonde. It's "strawberry blonde" and it refers to a hair color that's blonde with faint red highlights.

Like this:

Ginger is a slang term meaning anyone with red/reddish hair (strawberry blonds included), and it encompasses a wide range of shades. It's frequently disparaging.

It's not strawberry for blonde. Strawberry blonde is a specific type of blonde that is shiny and reddish. It usually doesn't look blonde at all, so I guess the better question is why is it BLONDE for STRAWBERRY BLONDE?

But ginger confuses me too. Ginger roots range from a pale muddy white to a brownish red, but either way looks nothing like natural red hair. I have no idea what the correct etymology on that one is.
